Hello Strangers!

After probably about 2 months out of action due to a crappy laptop and busy summer, I have finally purchased myself a Macbook Pro!
It is BEAUTIFUL.

SO what's new?
Summer I pretty much worked for about 2 months straight sooo the following photos should just about sum up what I managed to fit into my remaining summer......

 LOMO Blue Hour

 Literary Death Match @ Concrete

One of my favourite people in the whole wide world, Ben.

And last but not least, FASHION NIGHT OUT, LONDON!
(Brilliant night.. Hence the capitals)

(Mulberry was by FAR the best place of the night.)

And now I've just started at the Academy, today in fact, and so far, so good!

Black Eyed Peas/ Plan B/ Natalia Kills/ Tinie Tempah/ Bruno Mars/ Example/ David Guetta

Nothing ever beats the buzz you get from being in a crowd at a music fest, even if the train st. does shut down and you have to find a different route home at 1 o'clock in the morning!

Wednesday 29 June 2011

Sooo the 26th June was my birthday and unluckily for me, it sat on a Sunday!
So I did my celebrating on the saturday, spending my day wandering around Brick Lane, stopping for a mid-morning caramel latte(yum), visiting Allstar bowling (I won) and getting way too excited over the infamous Rough Trade photobooth (think indian headresses and berets)!

My friends were the best, and spoilt me rotten, ending up with a personalised scrapbook, money and a mini instax 10 camera, ready with film to document the day (AHH!!!) Here's a few snaps from the day..

It was the loveliest day :-)

Latest obsessions

(Click image to watch a teeny tiny stop motion film; character is only 9mm high!)

Beautiful, beauuutiful MJ pumps

Found these adorable mini polaroid magnets on http://www.ambrosiagirl.com where I then went on to become one of Jennifer Kirk's (author of blog) newest fan, ^WANT WANT WANT!

Who could resist this nail art?!

KONAPUN!

New craze over in Japan that goes through all the motions of cooking minature food, except it being inedible. Basically sophisticated play-dough, yet it's hard not to be fascinated and leaves me dying to get my hands on some!

Amazing, cannot stop watching these videos!!

Goodbye A-Levels

So today I had my last exam, ever. Meaning no longer am I under compulsion to ever step foot into my school again, the place that's pretty much made me who I am today.
I felt fine until I had a couple of my English teachers pull me aside to tell me how much I'll be missed and that they sincerely hope I realise how intelligent I am, was the loveliest thing I have heard in a long while!

This year has been probably one of the most confusing years of my life so far, I've learnt that people aren't who you think they are even if you've known them for years and years, I've made best friends who have helped me through some really rubbish times, and most of all I've grown up. I've taken a massive leap of faith by quitting school and buggering off to London, but I've accepted that this is my life, and so it's me, and only me that can decide what my future holds!
Today also happens to be my one year anniversary with my boyfriend, and tomorrow happens to be my first day at my second job. Everything is happening and changing so fast I haven't even had a chance to stop and realise what I've given up. But I will not be negative! In September I'll be beginning the new and probably most memorable chapter of my life, so you know what I say?
Bring it ON

May's Playlist!

So this month has just literally been exam month. And given that I hate revising, but love music, I used it as an excuse to make a revision playlist. Of course when I revise, I need songs that aren't going to encourage me to belt out a few notes, but instead act as background music, that wont get stuck in my head during the exam (give or take a few Jack Johnson tunes). So here's a few of the best ones!

  • To Cure a Weakling Child- Adem
  • Run- Stephen Fretwell (for those of you that recognise this, it's the Gavin&Stacey themetune)
  • If I had a Boat- James Vincent McMorrow
  • I Giorni- Ludovico Einaudi
  • Do You Remember- Jack Johnson
  • Angel- Jack Johnson
  • Comfortable- John Mayer

Absolutely love this song, listen to it a few times and I promise you'll be in love!

Introducing Me

Well well, my first blog post! Hopefully this will be the first of many, so here goes.
My name is Emily Jane McDermott, I'm 16 almost 17 and I'm half way through my transition from leaving my A-levels, to attend The Fashion Retail Academy in LDN. Who knows what will come of it, all I know is I cannot wait to get out there and find out.

I'm not going to be one of those frustrating teens that just state they like fashion and vintage clothing and therefore think they're cool, (even though I do love fashion and vintage clothing). Instead, I'm going to just briefly bore you with details about me for this post!

Soo this would be me! (Taking out the trash)

I have 2 very talented best friends, Melissa- the dancer, and Amber- the photographer who took the image above.

Amber, Mel and myself at Underage 2010

And this would be my sister Hannah, so proud of her acceptance to Oxford this September!!
So this blog is going to be yes, about fashion considering it's one of my biggest passions, but also a sort-of scrapbook for me, documenting my life as it were. I can't wait!

Anyway, I think that's enough for now... Next post I'll be posting this month's shopping list, and my favourite bands at the moment.

 Au revoirrrrr x
